So I've been happily using my Raq4i in Raqcop configuration for about 6 months now, and decided to tackle the little Qube that has been taking up space in the closet.

However, I just realized its a Qube 2. The unit is using proprietary EDO ram, with a whopping 16Mb installed as a base, and a 13Gb harddrive.

So, aside from needing a bigger harddrive, do you think it would work?

Here are the specs for the original hardware:

 The original hardware...

Sun Cobalt Qube 2

64Bit MIPS RISC CPU QED RM5231-250Q (superscalar, 250MHz)
System Controller: Galileo GT-64111
PCI-ISA Bridge/ATA Controller: Via VT821C586 (Apollo VP)
1x16MB RAM (EDO 3.3V, SIMM-Modul 72 Pin, proprietary)
Maximum memory: 256MB
Ultra-ATA 10.2GB hard drive (Seagate ST310212A)
Maximum fixed disk capacity (BIOS limitation): 30GB
2 network interfaces (Tulip) DECchip DC21142 10/100baseTX-FDX
6-key-panel + 2x16 LCD-Display
1 high-speed serial port (SubD9)
1 PCI-slot (proprietary)
1 housing fan (4x4 cm, 12V, unsettled)
1 small, external 36 Watt power supply unit (12V, 3A)
Dimensions: 18,4cm x 18,4cm x 19,7cm
Weight: 2.8kg
Power supply: 100-240V, 50/60Hz
Power input: 25 Watt [/li][/list]

I'm the same Dave who patches and compiles raqcop.

No, that model while being a very nice unit, ie 64 bit mips, Raqcop will not work with it as we are dealing with the x86 version of IPCop here. IPCop in general as of the 1.4 branch will support x86 and Alpha. IPCop 2.0 should see PPC and Sparc added to the list but I never hear about Mips at all.  weizen_42 has a raq2 which is the same architecture but he doesn't run and never has any intention of making an IPCop version for it. There are other neat things about how they did things with those early Cobalt units.

I know there are various distros for it and Cobalt MIPS stuff is already in the main kernel branches as far as I know.

I'm curious if openwrt will run on a qube/raq2?
